For faculty or professionals in practice wishing to obtain copies of previous applied ethics case studies, including the case text, alternate approaches, survey results, and forum comments, please contact the Program Director, William D. Lawson, P.E., directly by email at Bill.Lawson@coe.ttu.edu For those wishing to bring alive some of the previous case histories, excellent classroom dramatizations of several cases have been prepared by Brian Brenner, editor for the ASCE Journal of Professional Issues in Engineering Education and Practice. For additional information, please contact Mr. Brenner directly at brbrenne@bigdig.com The National Institute for Engineering Ethics is pleased to announce our latest educational initiative, the Applied Ethics Case of the Month program. The Program transitioned to the NIEE from the Professional Engineering Practice Liaison Program, College of Engineering, University of Washington, on October 15, 2002. Created in 1997 by Ronald E. Bucknam, P.E., Ph.D., the "Case of the Month Club" is used by more than 100 universities and the website has had more than 50,000 hits. The program presents cases taken from professional practice in order to stimulate greater emphasis on ethical issues in a real-world context. The National Institute for Engineering Ethics gratefully acknowledges the cooperation of the Professional Engineering Practice Liaison Program in transitioning the Case of the Month program to the NIEE, this based on a Memorandum of Understanding between NIEE and the University of Washington executed in November 2001. The NIEE is very pleased to carry on Dr. Bucknam's fine work by sponsoring the Case of the Month Club. Dr. Bucknam's passion for ethics in professional practice remains a strong contribution to educational programs in the ethics area, and an inspiration and encouragement to all engineers.
